It’s a shame that there isn’t even a trial or limited version of any of the games – you really won’t be able to do anything with this app until you pay the extra cash for the games, which themselves aren’t particularly that innovative or appealing. The Toy Story Pins are basically achievements that you unlock by playing the games (which you have to pay for), so it’s not a feature that has any real functionality unless you’re going to shell out for Woody’s Wild Ride or Toy Story Mania. All of these features require you to be on 3G or have access to a Wi-Fi connection, and the pins and community parts of the app also require you to complete a sign-up to access them. There is some free content here, but it’s limited to “Woody’s Greetings”, “Toy Story Pins” and the “Toy Story Community”. The Toy Story 3 app is basically just a storefront for a number of in-app purchases, which include two games: Woody’s Wild Ride ($.99) and Toy Story Mania ($4.99). Toy Story 3 is one of the biggest movies of the summer, but unfortunately, for a hefty 119mb download, the Toy Story 3 app from Disney doesn’t really deliver much.
